Ear, Nose & Throat

Question

My 9-year old daughter almost fainted today. She went completely white and I had to pick her up and lay her down quickly. She had finished a shower, got dressed and I was doing her hair when the incident happened. She complained of ringing in her ears when lying down. She has no other symptoms. What could this be? She also drinks plenty of fluids.

There is a chance that she may be experiencing tinnitus (ringing type of noise experience in the ear or in the head when there is no external sound is heard or present). It may be a symptom of underlying condition. Its common cause is inner ear cell damage, injuries that affect auditory nerves, and other ear problems, as well as loud noise exposure, earwax blockage, changes in ear bones, and certain medications among others.

It is highly advised to seek your physician to confirm through series of tests or identify the specific condition she has especially if it is tinnitus that accompanies dizziness, then immediately seek a doctor.
