I have had glaucoma for years. I just saw an ad for eye vitamins. Could these improve my vision or protect me from further vision loss?

by Anonymous on 3/4/2010 | 1 Replies | | this has been going on for about a month. i have extremely snowy vision at night and it seems to be less snowy during the day (either that or i just dont notice it as much because i am busy. I see "after images" very easy and mostly at night. i get headaches2-3 times a week and they are always behind one of my eyes. every day to every other day i get a ringing in my ears. I also have very shaky and "vibrateing" nervs. these symptoms are at their worst when i am tired. i recentely have seen a doctor who thinks i have a sleeping disorder and referrd me to another clinic who was supposed to call me but never did. a doctor i have seen prior to this doctor said i had an anxiety disorder and perscribed me Zoloft which i stopped taking after about a week because it only made everything worse. so my question is.. "what is my next step?" should i just ignore these symptoms or should i see a third doctor? or maybe i should see an eye doctor instead? thank you in advance to any advice anybody has to offer!
by Anonymous on 3/4/2010 | 1 Replies | | I am 46 female, generally good health. I have had a raised pressure in my right eye for many years, untreated. Recently I had a course of topical antibiotic ointment for a small rt. eyelid cyst, which did not improve. An opthalmologist put me on doxycycline 100mg/day. After a lot of light flashes in the eye the next day a black "sunspot" appeared in the centre of my left eye field of vision. It is not a floater but stays fixed in the centre of my field of vision. It is like the spot you get after looking at the sun or like looking through dark sunglasses. Both my brothers report they have had similar episodes in their lives. Tests indicate no evidence of retinopathy, but field of vision test indicates missing areas. The antibiotic has produced several reactions which have forced me to stop taking it. Stomach cramps, diahorrea, erythema and headaches. No-one seems to be able to explain to me what it might be or what the prognosis is. Am I going blind? Is this the beginning of a cataract or glaucoma?
by Anonymous on 3/4/2010 | 1 Replies | | I`ve been suffering with eye pain for about 5 years and my last visit with an opthalmologist said he "didn`t know what`s wrong" but he did say the eyeballs appear normal. So I still don`t know what`s causing the pain. A brain scan earlier this year said there is evidence of chronic small vessel ischemic disease - whatever that means. It also said I have inflammatory mucosal thickening within the right ethmoid, left sphenoid, and right maxillary sinuses. Is either or both of these conditions the cause of the eye pain? I`ve had sinus surgery twice, but I received no relief from the pain and I resort to 10/325 mg of percocets for releif. No doctor has ever discussed these results of the brain scan. Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. God bless you.

by Anonymous on 3/4/2010 | 1 Replies | | Hello, my old eyeglasses were fine. I had to have them remade because the old coating cracked. The new glasses at reduced strength -1.75 (for computer work at 18 inches) hurt my right eye after concentrated computer work. The left eye was fine. I had a full prescription made, -2.25, for driving, and the right eye still hurts. I do not know what to tell the eye doctor. He seems baffled.

by Anonymous on 3/4/2010 | 1 Replies | | I am a 43 year old female, and a muscle directly beneath my left eye has been twitching constantly for the past five days. It twitches day and night. I am concerned that this is not simply caused by stress, but instead has a more sinister origin such as multiple sclerosis or myasthenia gravis. I have been to see an opthalmologist, who says it is just stress and that if it does not cease in a month we will look into Botox injections. What advice can you give?

by Anonymous on 3/4/2010 | 1 Replies | | My 29 year old son had 2 eye muscle surgeries as a child- his eye "floats"up all of the time- and at this time cannot see out of it- only shadows. He is very "embarrassed by this problem-he and I are wondering if surgery on his eye muscle could be done so it would not float- he said at this point would not even care if it did not move "at all"-- just would like it "straight" Thank you in advance for your response.
